Local UniFi parental control

KindFi

Control network access with a tap. Clear is kind.

KindFi manages your UniFi network's firewall rules by family member, right from your iPhone — no cloud account, no new backend, nothing leaves your house.

What it does

Names first Tap a name to see just their rules. A badge shows at a glance who has no internet access right now.
DASHBOARD
Exceptions Approve one specific app or site while a broader block stays active — Pinterest through, the rest of social media blocked.
ALLOWED
Temporary overrides "Ten more minutes" without touching the schedule. Auto-reverts, no need to remember to undo it.
15–120 MIN
Scan to set up Add a second family device by scanning a QR code from one that's already configured — no retyping the admin password.
NO PASSWORD
Local only KindFi talks directly to your UniFi controller. No account, no relay, no analytics.
NO CLOUD

Why it exists

Most parental-control tools ask you to hand a stranger's cloud service your family's traffic. UniFi's firewall already does everything a tool like that promises — it's just buried three menus deep, in an interface built for network admins, not for "can I have ten more minutes."

KindFi doesn't add a new system. It just puts the rules you already wrote somewhere you'll actually reach for them — grouped by person, one tap to toggle, nothing sent anywhere but your own router.

What you'll need

  • iOS 17.0 or later
  • A UniFi Dream Machine or Cloud Gateway with UniFi Network 8.x+ and zone-based firewall policies enabled
  • A local UniFi admin account — not a Ubiquiti cloud login
  • Firewall rules already set up in the UniFi console (KindFi toggles them; it doesn't create them)
